Facebook - Onboarding Journey
Continuing further with Social Media Applications, I thought of checking out how Facebook's on boarding experience is. So uninstalled my old application and installed updated one from Play Store.
When I started the application, the creatives that they have created at the top are really informative i.e. it clearly shows about what is Facebook meant for and what all features are they giving us.
Now just in order to check how is the flow for users who created their account for the first time, I went and started creating new account instead of directly signing in. But before going on that option, I saw a good feature given by Facebook for users from different part of the world speaking different languages. It provides language change which can be used if you want to use your native language.
Now continuing in the option to create account, I was first asked my personal details like my name, birth date, gender. And then they gave me option to either create my account using my mobile number or email account. I went on with my mobile number and then they asked me to enter a password.
Now came the shift. My good user experience till now shifted to bad user experience.
When I started typing a password, it was getting displayed. This might create security issue. Someone next to me can also check what password I am typing. Even they had not given a option to hide and type. This was the same point why my experience for Snapchat also shifted from good user experience to bad user experience. As a user I want security.
1 - Creatives in the initial screens should be very informative.
2 - Screen finishing should be very clean and clear.
3 - Give multiple language option to users.
1 - Hide the password while user is typing it. Yes, give option to users to check the password if they want. It can be then considered as facility.
