Google Map Alerts - Good User Experience
Google Maps – Location A ↦ Location B (on bike 🏍) – "Location B will close within 1 hour of when you arrive?" ⏰
Story: I use my weekend to complete any Govt. office tasks which are usually opens on the Fridays. So after finishing my work at around 4:10 PM I decided to visit a Govt. office, I open the Google Maps app on my iPhone and search for the destination, the place was showing about 16 km from current location and will probably takes at least 30 minutes to reach there with estimated reach time of 4:47 PM. While I was checking this an alert popup which was showing me that "Govt. office will close within 1 hour of when you arrive?" I was like huh? It suppose to close 5.30 PM? but Google shown me that (Open today at 9.30 PM – 5PM) within that alert.
I decided not to go that office now because there were very less chances that I will be reach there on-time. 🚦
I was like, thank you Google for showing me this alert? Otherwise I might have wasted my time by reaching there when the place was about to close or might have closed. ✌️
1. A simple alert can be these much helpful.
2. With this experience, I understood that Google Maps are also using other data which will be helpful to show this kind of alert.
3.I haven't experienced such thing with Apple Maps, Ola/Uber so can't comment but if they haven't implemented such feature yet, it's a high time. 💥
