James Dyson Award - Competition Registration
I saw one news "Design something to solve problems". And the title itself compelled me to run through the news letter. And came to know that there is James Dyson Award organized for the year 2018. And as a design enthusiastic, obviously planned for reaching out on mentioned website www.jamesdysonaward.org to register for the competition.
While registering for the event, I saw that they were asking for some documents which were needed to register for the competition. I selected respective file, but the message or sign that it should show whether file type was correct or not or whether they have started uploading was not seen on the web page.
I thought may be file was not proper. I again selected one more file. Same thing. Then I saw one big box where they mentioned that you can even drop your file, I even tried doing that. But nothing I can still see.
Then suddenly I saw some loading sign inside that grey box. There were in all three loading signs. It was very difficult to see and understand that the file is uploading. And at the same time, if you really want to see, you need to either watch it carefully of whats happening inside they grey box.
We need to give proper Feedback to the user about what’s happening. If they cannot see or perceive the feedback then it can create confusion and may lead to bad user experience (badux).
Provide appropriate feedback to users based on their action. In this case, I recommend to show loading icon with file name being attached. It can also show upload progress in percentage.
