ridlr - Book Local Transport Ticket Using App
ridlr sovled the problem of standing in a queue for ticket booking for local transport.
One of the most frustrating part of travelling by public transport? Standing in long queues for buying a ticket! So sometime back since the Mumbai metro became popular for local travel, the queues for purchasing tickets have started growing. Of course there is the option of buying a pass or smart card for those who travel regularly. I also happened to use the same.
But over time, keeping the card handy and in proper condition started taking a toll on me.Luckily, quite recently, the metro started the concept of entry and exit using QR code. So there came a few apps which could generate the QR code for your metro journey.
One such app is ridlr. After hearing good reviews about it and for the convenience it offered, I thought of giving it a try.And since then I have been using it daily for my metro travel.
What I liked-
The process of generating the QR code is so simple and quick. It just takes 3 clicks! Moreover, the terms used for the types of tickets and passes are much similar to the physical world, like Smart Card, Trip Pass, Store Value Pass. This makes anyone using the app for the first time very comfortable.
1. Keeping the user interface simple and clutter free ensures that the users are able to perform their required tasks efficiently.
2. Reducing the number of clicks for a process that has to be performed repeatedly by the users is a good way to keep users happy.
3. Using terms that users are familiar with in the physical world helps new users quickly comfortable with the app.
If there is something that I would really like to see in this already great experience is for the app to remember user's preferences and have the regularly used option for journey type selected by default.
