Uber - Spotlight
Uber solved the problem to find the person who booked a cab in a crowded place.
I use Uber all the time to get around town. Many times its late in the night when booking an Uber. So it can be hard to catch the number of the cars driving by, to figure out which one is picking me up. When I find the right number, I wave my hand, and the cab comes over. This whole exercise gets a little more challenging whenever I’m out of a late night movie.
The sidewalk is filled with other people who also booked cabs, and many of they wave at the cabs when they find it. Now, Imagine from drivers' perspective, if many people are waving their hands at their cars. How could they spot their customer quickly?
Addressing this issue, Uber recently added a new, simple feature - called Spotlight.
After booking the cab, there is an option that makes the entire screen of the phone, a particular color. This color also shows up on the driver’s screen. So when the passenger is waving their phone with that color, the drivers can match this color on their device and quickly figure out who they’re picking up.
I’m sure this involved a fair bit of research and observation to catch this one. Good job Uber!

Nothing as such.
